Short Courses

Intensive, expert-led training to faculty members, professionals and students (1 to 5 days). This may focus on a particular research method, a topic within economics, business and finance, or a combination of the two. Examples include: Financial Econometrics with STATA, Non-linear Forecasting with R, Text-based Analysis of Twitter Accounts and Game Theory.

Summer Schools

Our summer schools develop exceptional analytical skills. They are jointly delivered by Oxford Intellect and the host institution. Graduates from the school are awarded a completion certificate. Delivery takes the form of theory, demonstration and hands-on practice. Examples include: Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Micro-finance, Macroeconomic Modelling with Eviews, and Qualitative Research Methods.

Case Study: Universiti Teknologi Brunei

Universiti Teknologi Brunei specialises in engineering, business and computing. As part of its expansion of academic programmes, it requested Oxford Intellect to support it in designing a new degree programme, Applied Mathematics and Economics, for its School of Applied Science and Mathematics.

Oxford Intellect shaped the degree programme to be in line with leading international standards with a particular emphasis on developing graduates ready for today's job market. The degree programme has been launched successfully and Oxford Intellect looks forward to supporting its future progress.

Case study: University of Sarajevo

The University of Sarajevo is the largest and oldest university in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Their School of Economics and Business requested Oxford Intellect to provide an accelerated learning environment through which participants would become fluent in foundational and intermediate knowledge of the statistical package R.

The first two days of the intensive 3-day training focussed on teaching R rather than a particular statistical technique. The last day focussed on applied non-linear regression and forecasting.

The course was interactive in nature, with participants actively using R to solve examples and problems. Participants left the training looking forward to using what they had learnt in their future research.
